"And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.”
- 1 Samuel 17:40
Word of the Week
The reason that God equips you, heals you, and strengthens you isn't just to go live a great life. He heals you and strengthens you so you can approach and become proactive in many of the other battles that you’re fighting.
God doesn't want you to wait until the enemy hits you. He doesn't want you to wait until you get sick the next time or when you get a notice that you've been laid off.
He wants you to become proactive; as David approached the giant.
Today, there is something that’s really been affecting you. It's been tormenting you and it's been lying to you. It could be challenging you in an area of temptation or it could be a voice that's been telling you that you will die before your time.
These are very real spiritual battles and some of these are physical battles. We, so often, fail to realize that the reason you go to church is to be strengthened.
Not strengthened just to get strong, but strengthened for battle.
Strengthened to say “You know what, today I'm going to take a new aggression towards these voices.“ I'm going to command these voices, instead of waiting for them to go. I'm going to take a charge over my body; what I put in it, what I put on it, and where I place it.
So remember everything that David did: he got his sling, he got his stone and he got his shepherd's bag. He got all of his weapons, but he didn't just say I'm weaponized.
He said, “I'm moving towards the giant.”
I'm moving towards these things that have been after me for so long. That memory, that sin, that bondage and that sickness--you've had your last day with me!
